This Spring Break indoor camp from Soccer IQ Academy is built specifically around the new school-year age groups. Most players will be trying out for new teams, and the biggest mistake is playing the same way in a completely different environment. This camp helps players win tryouts and earn roles on new teams by mastering two things coaches notice fastest: (1) speed of play and decision-making, and (2) impact moments.
Track 1: Younger / Smaller Players
Younger or smaller players will train against bigger, older players, but learn how to avoid turning it into a physical battle and stand out through soccer IQ.
Focus areas:
• Scanning early so pressure never comes as a surprise
• First touch to space instead of into trouble
• Fast 1–2 touch decisions under pressure
• Finding space and angles to keep the ball moving
• Smart positioning to stay effective even when outmatched physically
Goal: stay on the ball, stay confident and stand out through decision-making and game intelligence.
Track 2: Older / Bigger Players
Older or bigger players are expected to lead, dominate and create. This track is for players who must become difference-makers, not just physically strong.
Focus areas:
• Being the X-factor: demanding the ball and setting the tempo
• 1v1 dribbling and change of pace to break lines
• Finishing and shooting under pressure in the final third
• Final-third decisions: when to pass, dribble or shoot
• Leadership habits and behaviors coaches notice quickly in tryouts
Goal: be the player who makes the difference, not just the biggest body on the field.
Special guest sessions:
• Jeb Brovsky – former MLS and European pro, head coach at Kent High School; covers tryout mentality, what to do before, during and after tryouts so nerves don’t control performance.
• Christian Solis – Colorado Rapids Academy Manager of Talent ID & Recruitment; explains what scouts and evaluators look for in real time and which small behaviors separate players quickly.
Players will leave with:
• A clear plan for how to approach school-year tryouts
• Better speed of play, confidence and effectiveness under pressure
• Tools to stand out whether undersized or physically advanced
• A stronger understanding of how they are evaluated and how to win that evaluation
